Witherspoon’s Mom Sues for Bigamy

(FOX News) – Reese Witherspoon’s 70-year-old father recently married his 60-year-old girlfriend, but he never got a divorce from the actress’s mom, Mary Witherspoon.

Now Mary Witherspoon is suing her husband, John Witherspoon, and the woman he married, Tricianne Taylor, for bigamy.

In papers filed in Tennessee Tuesday, Mary Witherspoon says she and her husband have not lived in the same house for over two decades, due to his issues with alcohol and hoarding, but they never divorced and she still loves him.

She also states in the filing that her husband, whom she fears has early-onset dementia, doesn’t even remember getting remarried.

“When I confronted my husband, he said he didn’t know who Tricianne Taylor was, and that he did not remember getting married,” she said in an affidavit, according to The Tennessean .

The Tennessee Office of Vital Records does not have a divorce on record, the newspaper reported.

But The Tennessean ran a wedding announcement on April 22, stating John Witherspoon and Tricianne Taylor were married on Jan.

‘Avengers’ unite for box office sales record

“Marvel’s The Avengers” crushed U.S. box office records with $200.3 million in ticket sales, opening the summer movie season with a huge win for Walt Disney Co. following the mega-flop “John Carter.”

“The Avengers” surpassed the previous best opening weekend of $169.2 million in the U.S. and Canada set by “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2″ last year, researcher Hollywood.com Box-Office said today in an e-mailed statement.

The movie easily exceeded forecasts ranging from $150 million to $170 million.

“Two hundred million is a staggering number,” said Jeff Bock, box office analyst at Exhibitor Relations Co.

“This is definitely the kind of momentum that’s going to carry over and ride the wave through summer.”

The movie’s performance redeems the big-bet strategy of Chief Executive Officer Robert Iger, who paid $4.2 billion for the Marvel comic book company in 2009 and has concentrated Disney’s slate on fewer, more expensive movies.

‘Moonstruck’ Writer Faces Sex Lawsuit

(NewsCore) – The Oscar-winning writer of “Moonstruck” and “Doubt,” who is accused of engaging in a violent sexual relationship with a young indie-film actress, said he was stunned by the allegations and claimed the actress was being exploited.

John Patrick Shanley, 61, was slapped Thursday with a $5 million lawsuit by former flame Amanda Jencsik, 26, who claims he nearly choked her to death with a belt during their kinky four-month tryst in 2010 and that he would slap and restrain her during sexual intercourse.

“I dated Amanda Jencsik several times,” Shanley said in a statement. “Our relationship was totally consensual. It ended some time ago. We never exchanged a harsh word.

New century, new orchestra: Conductor starts fresh, hopes to take the stuffiness out of music

Ten years after the collapse of his Hoboken Chamber Orchestra, founder and conductor Gary Schneider is ready for a second chance.

The world has completely changed, Schneider says.

If Im going to do it again, I have to do it differently, he adds, because the orchestra of the past is dying.

Economic woes are nearly universal for classical music organizations. The prestigious Philadelphia Orchestra declared bankruptcy last year, and orchestras across New Jersey have closed, merged and struggled with debt. Some people have told Schneider that now is the worst time for a symphonic startup.

But Schneider thinks the moment might be ideal to unveil Orchestra for a New Century, which has its first concert at Drew University on Wednesday.

On the road to promote his brand new album, Wrecking Ball, Springsteen was once again joined by the legendary E Street Band. After the untimely death of saxophonist Clarence Big Man Clemons last June (which followed the 2008 death of keyboardist Danny Federici), its a new chapter in the E Street Bands history.

This week, Will Ferrell announced he will return as the clueless ’70s newscaster in “Anchorman 2,” a sequel to his 2004 hit. Now, “Anchorman” was a very funny movie, and Burgundy was a very funny character; but the question has to be asked: Do we really need another sequel?

Last weekend “The Hunger Games” launched a franchise that has at least two and possibly three built-in sequels.

This weekend, the sequel “Wrath of the Titans” arrives in theaters. Next weekend, the “American Pie” sequel “American Reunion” will surface.

By a preliminary count, there will be 14 sequels or remakes released between May and August.

Sudanese Activist Artist Breaks Down Borders

A Sudanese artist from the restive Blue Nile region is using art and activism to promote the plight of people caught between borders and conflict.

In an audio montage of memories from refugees, the sounds of gunfire and explosions mix with crying babies. Narrator Michelle Orecchio describes how to reverse war’s grip on so much of humanity.

“All it takes is wisdom and I am absolutely sure we can get it back into the box and bind the chains and lock the locks,” she said.

The audio art is one of many creations by Sudanese artist Elshafei Dafalla Mohamed. The Washington-based activist works across artistic genres, from photography to installations and conceptual events to show the sameness of people, while also exposing injustices.

His own home region in the south of Sudan is experiencing conflict and humanitarian crisis amid the messy separation between Sudan and the world’s newest country South Sudan.

What’s in a name? Pink and husband Carey Hart welcomed daughter Willow Sage Hart into the world last month, and the singer revealed their reasoning behind her unusual name and how the new family is adjusting to their brand new baby.

“The willow is my favorite tree. I grew up near one. It’s the most flexible tree in nature and nothing can break it – no wind, no elements,” Pink told PEOPLE about the nature-inspired name for her little girl. “It can bend and withstand anything. I love that sentiment. I want that for her.”

Her middle name also has a special meaning — but Pink said it also just sounded cool.
