Georgette Jones was born into country music royalty. Her mother is the late Tammy Wynette and her father, George Jones. But life for the 40 year old has not been a honky-tonk heaven. Her parents divorced when she was four and for many years she had a distant and unhappy relationship with her father. Her mother, who famously sang ‘Stand By Your Man,’ was trapped in an unhappy marriage to singer/songwriter George Richey and developed a dependency on pain killers. It’s been more than a decade since the world got a proper “Twisted Metal” game. Since then, the industry’s landscape has drastically changed. The rise of online multiplayer made local play, the franchise’s bread and butter, less important. Tactical shooters have become the dominant genre for hard-core gamers. Even the televisions that players use have stretched wider, going the high-definition route.

In rebooting “Twisted Metal” on the PlayStation 3, the developer, Eat Sleep Play, had to make up for lost time. They couldn’t trot out the same 15-character roster and force players to tackle a series of death matches.

Britain’s Prince Harry Finishes Top in Class

Britain’s Prince Harry has qualified to fly Apache attack helicopters in combat, finishing training as the best co-pilot gunner in his group.

British Defense Ministry officials said Wednesday, Prince Harry, who is known in the military as Captain Wales, was recognized as the top co-pilot gunner by members of his training group.

Prince Harry, the third in line to the British throne, trained for 18 months in Britain and in desert and mountain conditions in the United States.

Thurston Moore needs a name for his new band. At Maxwells in Hoboken on Friday night, he rhapsodized about his crush on actress Eliza Dushku she played the evil slayer Faith on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and announced he was henceforth calling the group Dush Krew. Everyone got a good laugh out of that and it was not the only time that the usually dour, intense Moore had the crowd in stitches.

It was indeed a kinder, gentler, funnier and far more affable Moore who thoroughly charmed the sold-out crowd at this show. But then, Moores had a transformative year. Last spring, he released Demolished Thoughts, his third proper solo album (not including countless experimental side projects and one-off collaborations), produced by Beck and featuring violin, harp and acoustic guitars.

Church’s party anthem Drink In My Hand topped USA TODAY’s country airplay chart this week, the first of the North Carolina native’s 10 singles to do so.

“Normally, you have No. 1 singles before you have No. 1 albums and arena tours,” says Church, 34, whose third album, Chief, made its debut atop the Billboard album chart in July. “For us, it was the other way.”

With an attitude that draws from outlaw country and a sound that sometimes borrows from classic hard rock, Church has cultivated a devoted fan base from the country audience without trying to please everybody.

BowWow’s got a secret that he’s finally ready to share — he’s a dad! The 24-year-old kid rapper turned actor turned ‘Dancing with the Stars’ favorite revealed on his website that he is the father to a little girl.

“For the past three years [I've] been battling life,” BowWow wrote on his website . “I felt as if I had no purpose to live until God gave me the illest gift of my life … nothing amounts to my lil girl.”

At first it looked like this year’s movie awards season might be filled with monkey business, but now it looks like it may be going to the dogs.

Ever since the release of “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” in August, there has been not-so-idle speculation over whether Andy Serkis, the human actor who provided the movements and expressions for the computer-generated lead ape, might earn a best supporting actor Oscar nomination, even though his actual face never appears on screen.

Now more fur is flying. There’s a push — seriously — to get an Oscar nomination, or even a special Oscar, for a dog.

The dog’s name is Uggie, and he’s a terrifyingly adorable Jack Russell terrier that nearly steals the black-and-white silent film “The Artist,” which opens Dec. 23

The abiding image in David Cronenberg’s new film A Dangerous Method is of Keira Knightley, her jaw thrust out alarmingly as she howls out the dark secrets of a confused childhood to her psychiatrist: Her father spanked her, she cries, and “it excited me.” It’s an alarming performance, both for its raw power and for the painful grimaces.

It’s shocking, just as Knightley wanted it to be.

“I stood in front of my mirror for a couple of days and went, ‘Hmmm, what is this, how can I f— this face up?’” Knightley recalled.
