Some of you will be able to instantly sing those songs in honor of Dan Peek, one of the original members of the group America, who was found dead on Sunday at age 60 in Farmington, Mo., reports KSDK. No cause of death was mentioned.
Peek formed America with former bandmates Dewey Bunnell and Gerry Beckley in 1970. He shared lead vocal duties and played guitar, bass and keyboards. He appeared on the band’s biggest hits, but quit the group in 1977. Peek and his wife Catherine lived in the Cayman Islands in the 1990s, where he continued to record music. After leaving the Caribbean, they made Farmington their home.
“May Dan rest in peace, and his memory be cherished forever,” writes Bunnell on the group’s website.
