This weekends performance by venerable power-poppers Cheap Trick at the Ottawa Bluesfest took a potentially deadly turn when the stage crumbled and collapsed during their rendition of “I Want You To Want Me,” destroyed by a severe thunderstorm. According to a report in the Ottawa Citizen, chaos ensued, with understandably freaked-out attendees running around the grounds like chickens with their heads cut off as they sought shelter from the belting rain and emergency vehicles swarmed the area. Although Cheap Trick released a statement saying that everyone in both the band and the crew escaped unscathed, a few people in the audience sustained serious injuries, according to the Associated Press. But as you can see in the fairly horrifying video, it probably could have been much worse. []
