Some of you will be able to instantly sing those songs in honor of Dan Peek, one of the original members of the group America, who was found dead on Sunday at age 60 in Farmington, Mo., reports KSDK. No cause of death was mentioned.

Peek formed America with former bandmates Dewey Bunnell and Gerry Beckley in 1970. He shared lead vocal duties and played guitar, bass and keyboards. He appeared on the band’s biggest hits, but quit the group in 1977. Peek and his wife Catherine lived in the Cayman Islands in the 1990s, where he continued to record music.

Nine Inch Nails rocker Trent Reznor has urged his fans to pass on a reissue of the group’s 1989 album.

Execs at a Universal Music subsidiary decided to re-release ”Pretty Hate Machine” without any remastering to digitally improve the sound quality of the original.

Taking to Twitter, Reznor writes, “NIN fans, don’t waste your money on this version of PHM that was just released… a record label bulls— move repackaging the old version. Ignore please.”

Music: Interview: Marianne Faithfull

Written on July 25, 2011 – 8:31 pm | by Jaxon Hallahan

Calling someone a survivor is like praising him or her for not playing in traffic; survival is, after all, a trait as common in microorganisms as in pop stars. But Marianne Faithfull has walked to the brink more times than most, confronting death and ruin, sometimes of her own making, and finding her way back. Faithfulls is one of the more extraordinary reinventions in the history of pop music.

Written on July 25, 2011 – 3:39 pm | by Cameron Hussey

Post offices in Nebraska cities large and small have been added to the list of offices, branches and stations being studied for possible closing.

The U.S. Postal Service said Tuesday that it is considering closing 90 Nebraska facilities among the nearly 3,700 being considered nationwide.

The service says many of the offices could be replaced by so-called village post offices. Those are locations offering limited postal services in local stores, libraries or government offices.

On the list of 90 Nebraska outlets to be studied for closure are two in Omaha. The rest are in villages and small cities that usually have just one post office.
