Harrisburg better prepare, because the Urban Guerilla Orchestra is coming and its show packs a punch.

Its like that sports car that goes from zero to 60 in a matter of seconds, said Henri McMillian, the bands director. Once we get rolling let the games begin.

The Philadelphia-based band will headline the Harrisburg Jazz and Multi-Cultural Festival Saturday with a free performance.

It will be the best money that you did not spend, McMillian said.

The free two-day festival beginning Saturday will feature more than 25 performances from bands including rap, rock and pop.

Devil Wears Prada performs July 3 in Ventura

Metalcore band The Devil Wears Prada is one of the major headliners at the 2011 Vans Warped Tour, which will make a pit stop at the Ventura County Fairgrounds on Sunday, July 3. The band enjoyed critical acclaim in 2009 for their first full-length album, “With Roots Above and Branches Below,” and they followed it up last summer with an EP titled “Zombie.” That five-track disc hit No. 10 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, the highest chart position yet for the Dayton, Ohio, band.

The Star talked to lead vocalist Mike Hranica about the Warped Tour and the band’s upcoming album, “Dead Throne,” set to drop Sept. 13 on Ferret Records.

You guys have been on the Warped stage before.

Old-fashioned fiddle music fills the air in San Jose’s Rose Garden

In a region fixated on everything new, there’s still room for something old.

San Jose’s Rose Garden Park was filled with the jaunty twangs of a fiddle jam session Sunday afternoon, an apt prelude to Monday’s Fourth of July celebrations.

The musicians, members of the Santa Clara Valley Fiddlers Association, billed as the state’s only independent fiddlers organization, gathered under a small grove of redwood trees and played tunes that the body just can’t resist wanting to move to. Fiddle jams include not just the fiddle, but also a number of other acoustic instruments, including guitar, double bass and mandolin.
